Welcome! I'm Karsten.
I make art + build things.
That's what I've always done, and it's never felt like work. Design is an opportunity for me to do both at the same time.
I enjoy simple, pretty user experiences and products that just work. Which is why I also enjoy tea, running, and ancient Mediterranean art.
In my spare time I play a sport you've never heard of but would love, play piano, read and write both fiction and non-fiction, and practice my French.

Looking ahead
Looking ahead, I want to go deeper into complex, data-heavy products, especially in research and education. I’m most interested in tools that sit between users and messy systems: platforms that make it easier to learn, run experiments, or make decisions.
In the next few years, I’m looking for teams where I can own real product problems, work directly with users, and ship iteratively with engineers. If a challenge demands clear thinking, honest research, and thoughtful interfaces, that’s where I want to be.
